A hidden gem on the island
Iguanas and tree lizards sun themselves along the paths. Hummingbirds and parakeets work the flowering trees, land crabs potter about, and now and then a flock of flamingos flies overhead. Every palapa is built on wooden poles to catch the breeze and has its own kitchenette, with housekeeping included.
The lodge is built without cutting down trees. That sustainable mindset runs through the lodge, from solar power and a chlorine-free pool to recycling programmes, sustainable cleaning products and more.

Private solar panels power the lodge, and external electricity is largely generated by wind. Light bulbs are mostly LED.
Recycling programs, sustainable cleaning products.
The Magnapool system cleans without chlorine, saves and recycles water and is beneficial for your skin and health.
Two trees were moved to build the pool, and many trees and plant were added for reforestation. The garden is water with groundwater and recycled water.
Furniture and decor is largely built from recycled pallet wood, driftwood and other precious finds from beach clean-ups.
Local staff and suppliers, tour commissions donated to a local charity.

Mondi Lodge is owned by a Curaçao family and looked after day to day by Danita.
Danita’s grandparents bought this property in the 1940s to create their family home and hobby farm. Years later their son George, his wife Hedy-An and (grand)daughter Danita created this tropical oasis on grounds that carry warm memories of days filled with family lunches and playing grandchildren. To this day happy, loving pets still wander the premises. Expect a home away from home feeling, where the hosts quickly feel like family.

Before you book
We recommend one. The lodge is 8 km from the airport and there is a bus stop 100 metres away, but a car makes it easy to reach the beaches and dive sites. We work with a local car rental partner and can help you arrange one.

Yes. Kunuku is fully wheelchair accessible, with an adjusted toilet and sink and a roll-in outdoor shower. The lodge is also well suited to older guests.
Children are very welcome. Mariachi sleeps three, and Flamingo and Kunuku each sleep four across two bedrooms. Pets are not allowed.
No. It is an outdoor Magnapool that uses no chlorine and is not heated.
